We value our employees and foster a supportive and collaborative work environment. We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Mid-Level Audit/Accounting Manager to join our team.

 

Job Summary:

The Mid-Level Audit/Accounting Manager will play a vital role in overseeing and managing a team of accounting and audit professionals. This position requires a calm and collected individual with strong technical expertise, leadership skills, and a passion for developing and training junior staff. The ideal candidate will be responsible for ensuring the successful execution of client engagements, maintaining high-quality standards, and contributing to the overall growth and success of the firm.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Team Management: Lead, mentor, and supervise a team of approximately 10 accounting and audit staff, including performance evaluations, training, and development.

  • Client Management: Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, ensuring projects are delivered within scope, budget, and agreed-upon timelines. Manage client expectations and proactively address any concerns.

  • Technical Review: Review CaseWare working papers and accounting software (Xero and Sage One) processing prepared by team members, ensuring accuracy and compliance with relevant accounting standards (IFRS, etc.).

  • Planning & Project Management: Participate in weekly planning and project allocation meetings with the Board of Directors. Monitor project progress, deadlines, and budgets, and ensure efficient resource allocation.

  • Quality Control: Implement and maintain quality control procedures within the team, ensuring adherence to professional standards and firm policies.

  • Business Development: Participate in firm marketing initiatives, recruitment of new staff (especially trainee accountants).

  • Training and Mentorship: A passion for training and developing trainee accountants (ACCA/SAIPA clerks) is essential. Provide guidance, support, and mentorship to junior staff members.

  • Other Duties: Perform other related duties as assigned by the Board of Directors.

 

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Age: 35 and older

  • Bachelor of Commerce in Accounting or equivalent.

  • Completed articles.

  • Minimum of 3-5 years post-article experience.

  • Registered Professional Accountant (SA), Associate General Accountant (AGA), or ACCA member.

  • Proven experience in managing and mentoring accounting/audit teams.

  • Strong technical knowledge of IFRS and IFRS for SMe’s and other relevant accounting standards.

  • Experience with CaseWare, Xero, and Sage One accounting software.

  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills.

  • Strong organizational and time-management skills.

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.  

  • Passion for training and developing junior accounting professionals.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in a similar role within a public accounting firm.

  • Familiarity with local tax regulations.

  •
